England – Carabao Cup

Tottenham – Chelsea

Its was an easy win for Spurs as they demolished Tranmere by 7 goals to nil. This week however, they have a much stiffer contest as they play host to Chelsea in the Carabao cup. After which they get to encounter Manchester united. With these games coming in quick succession Pocchentino would be looking to rotate his squad thus resting his key players.

The blues have also had their share of packed up fixtures and just like their opponents have a tricky tie with Newcastle this weekend. Against Nottingham Forest, Sarri rested majority of his squad and the selection would be key.

Both sides last met at the Carabao cup in 2015 at Wembley but it was Chelsea who were triumphant as they lifted the title. Ironically Spurs last won it in 2008 and you can guess who they defeated to win it, Chelsea.

Both teams to score

France – Coupe de la Ligue

Lyon – Strasbourg

The home side returned to action after the winter break on Saturday as they defeated Bourges by 2 goals to nil. Moving on, some of that confidence from the previous game should trickle onto this game. Their visitors weren’t involved in the Coupe De France so that means the away side is well rested. This could turn out to be a really tricky fixture.

Before that break during Christmas, Lyon had failed to deliver the goods against Montpellier and thus found themselves in 3rd position, 15 points away from the league leaders. It’s still somewhat early in the campaign and to a very large extent, it’s fair to say Lyon have no chance at the title already. That being said, they still remain one of the top sides in France and should be able to grab maximum points here.

Strasbourg haven’t been very poor on away fixtures, but recent results have been more flattering than they should have been. They have able to score against teams on their travels whilst making it very difficult for their opponents.

Home Win

SPAIN – Copa del Rey

Gijon – Valencia

Gijon are currently not having the same performance rates as their opponents. Over the weekned , they didn’t give a very good account of themselves but could still come into this game with a lot of confidence. The home side knocked out Eibar in the last round and are also giving teams a hard time in the domestic league. They have lost just one of their last 6 matches and their defense has really added to this stat. In the last three matches, their opponents haven’t been able to find the back of net. Its also worthy of mentioning that at home they can make life unbearablebforbany opponent.

Valencia this season have really struggled to defeat teams in the much lower divisions as we saw in the previous round. The Bats won with a single goal when then encountered Ebro a couple of months back. That win against Ebro wasn’t in any way a convincing win. Valencia haven’t been impressive away from home as they have just 2 of their last 9 away league matches.
