Although the festive season is fast approaching, for teams in Europe this is their busiest calendar. Here we take a look at matches across the continent and while there are league matches in Germany and Italy, while the EFL cup continues in England.

After two consecutive defeats Fortuna got back on winning ways as they defeated Freiburg last weekend at home 2 nil. This win facilitated a move out of the relegation zone for the East Germans but now they have more difficult fixture. The home side were able to make the headlines as they held Bayern to a 3-3 draw some weeks ago.

Borussia Dortmund have put up a performance that hasn’t been seen by the club in years. At the moment the league leaders have 39 points and are still 9 points adrift of Bayern. It’s the first time Dortmund have gone 15 games unbeaten with 12 wins and 3 draws. They just might continue their fairy tale run here.

Away Win

Bologna find themselves within the bottom three at the bottom half of the Italian top flight table. New manager and former Ac Milan star Pippo Inzaghi isn’t having it easy at his new job. Despite the new manager’s reputation with recent performances, they seem destined for a return to the Serie B. they have just 2 wins to their name since the season kicked off another defeated would further deepen their fall.

The popular Milan side in red and black stripes were shown the way out from the Europa league last week. However, they still find themselves in a good position on the domestic league table. With the clubs finances in shambles a return to the champion’s league would do a lot of good. Losing just 1 game in the last seven is a positive sign but an improvement on their backline would yield more fruit.

Away win or draw and over 1.5 goals

The home side lost a second consecutive game as Crystal Palace played host to them over the weekend. It is quite obvious Claude’s Puels men would heading into this game with their heads a little downcast. Recent results aren’t in their favour and that’s the last thing you want when you come up against a City side.

Their recent efforts brings us to the realisation that they have made it this far in the competition was definitely not on their overwhelming performances. They have had 2 ties decided via penalties and this lackluster show would have to end at some point.

The citizens have been pretty outstanding in the league so far this campaign. They have been very impressive in the competition as they have gotten past teams with ease. They defeated Fulham in the last round while creating huge chances on goal. A repeat of such a feat would see them get into the semi final.

This game already looks like a one wayed traffic but considering Manchester city’s away stats, the foxes might beg to differ.
