After this weeks hostilities in the two major European club competition’s, top clubs return to their domestic leagues to kick off where they left off. Four of Europe’s top five leagues would be in action with one match each. Read on for match previews, tips and predictions.
FRANCE – LIGUE 1
AS Saint-Etienne – FC Nantes
The host are doing impressively well at the moment and currently sit 6th on the French ligue 1 table.
They have also recorded wins against some tough oppositions with Monaco and Toulouse as some of their victims. Against the likes of PSG and in form Lille, they have however lost just as expected. The major concern for Etienne are the number of draw results so far as they have now drawn 5.
Nantes have had 2 draws recently against Rennes who finished in the top half of the table last season and Angers who have shown an improved side of their style of play even though they still seat deep in the lower parts of the table. The visitors would be looking to grab maximum points here.
PICK
Both teams to score / Draw
GERMANY – BUNDESLIGA
Fortuna Dusseldorf – FSV Mainz 05
Last weekend the home side pulled one of the surprise results as they held Bayern Munich to a 3-3 draw. Lukebakio also became the first player since 2001 to score a hat trick against the German champions. They now head into this game on the back of two great results and would surely be looking to build on that.
Mainz are having an OK season as they managed to great results before the international breaks. However on their return to league action they did lose in Borrusia Dortmund who happen to be all fired up at the moment.
They have been very poor in front of goal but they also have one of the best defenses in the league so far.
PICK
Under 1.5 HT
SPAIN – LA LIGA
Rayo Vallecano vs Eibar
Although the home side have just 7points after 13 games, the team has just been quite unlucky. Two of such results would include draws against Villarreal and Barcelona where they let their lead slide by with just a few minutes to the end. They would be looking for their first home win of the season.
Eibar head to this game on the back of that overwhelming win over Real Madrid. A result which has seen them climb up the top half of the table and would hlbe hoping to stay there. Both teams have a thing for scoring and we don’t expect this trend to change.
PICK
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
ENGLAND – PREMIER LEAGUE
Cardiff – Wolverhampton
Cardiff have been quite impressive however they come into this game on the back of a an Everton loss. They now sit 19th on the table with Fulham and Southampton lurking in their shadows. With a win here they could go up as far as 15th and this doesn’t look far fetched.
.The visitors are on a poor run of form recently and they lost their last match to another relegation threatened side Huddersfield.
They have now gone 5 games without a win and despite the poor run of results still sit in 11th position.
PICK
Anybody to win and under 4.5 goals
