Welcome to Thursday night football, or better still the Europa league as teams look to make it to the round of 32. Read on for match previews, tips and predictions on selected fixtures.
AC MILAN – F91 DUDELANGE
The host head back to continental action this week as they look to secure a spot in the next round of the competition. They would be welcoming F91 Dudelage who happen to be the underdogs in the group. Over the weekend Milan had a real test as they faced Lazio in their attempt to get back in top gear. However, they should be able to make it past this opponent.
The visitors are yet to gain a single point in the group, hence they stand no chance of edging close to Milan even if they claimed 3 points here. This reverse fixture ended in a 1 nil scoreline as they seem to be short on goals. Betis who are top of the group with just a point more are hosting Olympiakos who are level on points with Milan.
PICK
Home win
ROSENBURG – CELTIC
a massive qualification boost on their last outing as they defeated the German side Leipzig. It was quite unexpected as Celtic dealtvthem two classic goals to prove just how badly they want this. A loss in this game could have spealt doom but their gave a good account of themselves on enermy turf. Can they repeat the performance?
Despite their poor show of results in recent encounters, Rosenburg have been on a burst of fine form. These results could however have a negative impact on their resolve a head of this clash. They had a 3 game winning streak before that 5-2 loss to Salzburg.
PICK
Away to win either half
BAYERN LEVERKUSEN – LUDOGORETS
The host head into this game with full awareness of a sure spot in the knockout stages of the Europa league. Alongside Zurich, they also have 9 points from 4games which leaves the bottom 2 teams with 2points each. The only significance of this game would be to secure top spot.
Ludogrets have just 2points so far after 4 games and won’t be making it to the next round of the competition. However, they sit top of the log on the domestic scene and would have a really busy schedule in the coming weeks. It won’t be a surprise if they started to pay attention to their domestic dominance.
With Leverkusen’s current position on the league and the 1st place finish up for grabs we expect the home side to go all in.
PICK
Home win
RANGERS – VILLAREAL
Steven Gerrard’s men have a real test on their hands as things could go south really fast. The members of Group G find themselves in a really tight one. As a win in this fixture without a corresponding loss to Spartak would not guarantee qualification. They could end the night either topping the group or completely out of the race.
The yellow submarine would have fancied their chances coming into this season Europa league campaign. It has really been a not so good season so far with Villarreal now sitting 16th on the domestic league table. Their 2-1 win over in form Real Betis could be a huge boost for the squad.
