Scotland couldn’t make it to the World Cup in Russia staying eight points behind first placed England and losing the second position to Slovakia. However, we need to say that they had a decent ending of the qualifiers with six matches undefeated run but they failed to win away in Slovenia in last round that could have brought them the additional playoff game.
However, things have gone worse since then as they suffered defeats to Netherlands and Costa Rica without scoring a goal, winning narrowly over Hungary 1:0. In the two last matches before the World Cup, the team lost to Mexico and Peru again without a scoring goal.
Belgium had an easy way to reach the World Cup ending the qualifiers with nine points more than Greece at a second position, while they shown to be one of the best footballing nations in Russia. Panama, Tunisia, and England were defeated in the group stage, while Belgium won over Japan and Brazil in the knockout phase too.
Overall, it was still a positive result and experience for them with the team showing to be really always threatening with the ball to their feet and frightening attacking style led by Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku.
There’s much more of individual quality that speaks in favor of the visiting team here and one would expect them to sweep away the Scottish who really looked poor in previous friendly matches scoring only one goal in five matches.
