Spain- LA Liga

Real Madrid – Girona

This Sunday fixture in La Liga happens to be a repeat of the Copa Del Rey quarter final tie between these two sides. Real Madrid were convincing winners over two legs but the 1st wasn’t an easy tie as the score line read 2-2 heading to the closing stages of the game.

Solari’s side made it 7 wins in their last 8 games across all competitions with their win over Ajax. Their win on Wednesday night wasn’t so convincing but they were able to secure maximum points. They still have an eye out for a fourth European champions league title but would also be looking to push for domestic league success. And with their win omin the Madrid Derby the points gap from Barcelona has been reduced to just 6.

The away did have a different mission, and it’s simply trying to remain in the top flight of Spanish football. Coming into this game, they are on 6 defeats on a row and have been unable to win in 13. Their last win came as far back as November. They are just one point away from the drop zone and the relegation battle seems inevitable.

Home win and over 1.5 goals

Villarreal – Sevilla

Villarreal and sevilla are two sides who had impressive wins in the Europa league even of the played away. Many wouldn’t consider this as good news for Villarreal who should really be focused on staying in the top flight. However for Sevilla, the win was a welcomed improvement.

Sevilla happen to be in 4th place as they head into this game and deservedly so. They have being as impressive as they should be and have made great progress in the various cups. However, their away stats in LA liga have been quite poor and they could really have a shout at Champions League qualification.

Villarreal did look like they would be in the mix of top teams at the start of the campaign but they find themselves fighting to stay in the League. New manager, Javi Calleja has had a couple of frustrating draws since his arrival. He would need to do well , if the Yellow Submarine is to stay in the LA liga.

Both teams to score

Valencia – Espanyol

The home side have had their fair share of problems in terms of injuries. However, star players like Rodrigo and Kevin Gameiro have shown positives of returning to top performance soon. Neither of the duo started the game in Glasgow but Denis Cheryshev and Ruben Sobrino both found the back of the net to endorse a 2 nil win. That helped kill off the tie and Valencia can now introduce fresh legs in this encounter.

The visitors did pick up an all important 3 points last weekend as they saw off Rayo vallecano at home. That win saw them ease away from the relegation fight yet again. However, their away form is awful as they have just 1 win from15 games this season. They have also managed just 1 point from their last 6 games away from home and this game holds no promises of a happy end.

Marcelino, now has his team heading back to form with a return of key players its difficult to look away from an impending home win.
