England – Premier League

Manchester city – Liverpool

Though we are still very much in the new year, Thursday’s clash at the Etihad has the makings of a potential title decider. On this day the 2 main contenders go pound for pound, a win for either side would considerably change the outlook of things.

A win to the reds would earn them a 10 points cushion as the widening the gap for City. Meanwhile, a Citizens win would reduce the points difference to a considerable 7 points whilst ending Liverpool’s unbeaten run. Pep’s men would be grateful to have this game at home as they would need all the support the can muster. They lost 3 of their last 5 games which including the Palace loss, their first home defeat this season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, has been handing out goals like autographs as they saw off Manchester United, Newcastle and Arsenal with over 2.5 goals scored in each game. Klopp’s men have come up against all big six in the league drawing 3 of those while winning the significant other.

Anybody to win and both teams to score

Spain – La Liga

Villarreal – Real Madrid

It’s the start of the year and Los Blanco’s kickoff the first La Liga match of 2019. This happens to be an outstanding game for the visitors due to their involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite the awful form at the start of the league, they won the aforementioned competition with relative ease. The main test here would be their mission of trying to get back into the title race. Los Blancos are currently 8 points away from league leaders. Their recent games have ended in wins although characterized by not so convincing performances.

Villarreal finds themselves having a very awkward season as they find themselves in the relegation zone. With a new manager at the helm of affairs, they would be looking to turn their fortunes around. The home side is only 2nd on the list of teams with the worst home records with Huesca beating them to 1st place.

Despite Real’s unconvincing play, they do look like they have enough arsenal to see this one through. The side would also be brimming with confidence as Gareth Bale looks to be getting his spark back.

Away win or Both Teams to Score No
