Bournemouth – Watford

The week of festivities between Christmas and the new year is always a tasking one. For fans on the cherries the were the most hit, with trips to both Wembley and Manchester. The impending doom was unavoidable as they lost to Tottenham 5-0 before visiting old Trafford for some more spanking. Considering the lineup of fixtures, they have had one can’t be too hard on them. Despite all these they find themselves just 3 points away from 7th place.

The visitors are 2 points away from their host as they find themselves in 9th position. They have had a poor run of form in recent times, drawing thrice and losing 5 thus just 2 wins. However, unlike their host they haven’t had much difficult fixtures.

Both teams to score

Wolverhampton – Crystal Palace

The host lost to Liverpool at home as they succumbed to a very impressive opponent. However, they did secure a draw when they visited Fulham on boxing day. Most impressive of their results was a stunning comeback against Tottenham as the game ended 3-1 in their favor. That win moved Wolves into 7th place on the league table and if they can hold up such form, they could make it to Europe.

The visitors are also trying to make a breakthrough by making it to the international stage. Despite their awful form at the kickoff of this season, their recent form gives them lots of credit. They have now won 3 of their last 7 games which has also helped them move 4 points away from relegation.

Newcastle United – Manchester United

The magpies had started this seasons campaign on a very rough note and have only began to look like a team since November. After failing to win any of their opening 10 games, victory over Watford marched into a 3 match winning streak. However, they couldn’t keep the form going and have only managed 1 win in 7 matches. It’s also fair to note that they are doing better than they were before that brief winning streak.

The red devils do look like a new team since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from the special one. After that loss to Liverpool that saw the end on Mourinho’s stay, they have now won 3 on the bounce. They have also scored 12 goals in the process, thus heightening the joy of the festivities at Old Trafford. On the downside, they are yet to keep a clean sheet under Solskjaer and Bailly’s red card summed up their defense story.
