Levante – Barcelona

Levanter haven’t been too poor of late despite being unable to secure a win in their last 4 encounters, they are really finding it difficult to keep things tight at the back. On a lighter note, they have been impressive on the offense and there is no telling what happens to a side that has a porous defense against Barcelona.

Thursdays host have just one win from their last eight matches and have won just2 of their last 10 in total. They have also conceded 12 goals in just four games. From an attacking point of view, Levante should cause problems for their visitors.

Fortunately for the home side, Barcelona would be looking to rotate their squad ahead of this game, which could see the likes of Messi and Saurez take the night off. Ernesto Valverde rested many big names in the previous round and might just remain that here. And if he does so here again, the home side have an easier task on their hands. Barcelona haven’t been overly impressive on their travels this season.

Home win (2:0) handicap

Athletic Bilbao – Sevilla

The home team have continued to show positives as they saw off Celta vigo on Monday night. They had a pretty bumpy ride at the start of the campaign but have been able to quicken their stride. Recent results show that they have lost just one of their last 9 competitive fixtures. They have really shaped up as a team who would be very difficult to get past.

They visited Levante early last month and did get beaten, and it was quite deserved. It was a really poor performance. Bilbao have been quite impressive from a home point of view and they do know how the get behind opposition defenses.

Sevilla at the moment are very much in form and coming against a side that are unbeaten in their last 8 matches, this could be a really interesting tie. The head into this game on that back of that tight fixture with Atletico Madrid over the weekend. On away encounters they have not lost in the last 4, but have scored in the last 3 though. On the flip side, they have also conceded in the last 3 matches.

Away Draw no bet

Real Betis – Real Sociedad

The home sides return to action after the Christmas break wasn’t exactly a cheerful one, they were defeated by Huesca 2 nil. They would be looking to bounce back although they are against a team that defeated Real Madrid on Sunday. Betis were quite impressive but unfortunately they still lost against Huesca. Before the break they had shown very poor form even on their own turf. Thursday night host have now won 2 of their last 3 and remain unbeaten in their last 4 games. They were quite lucky to have beaten Eibar though and same was the case when they played Vallecano.

Just like their opponents, the visitors haven’t been convincing on away fixtures, winning five matches on the road so far with fortune really smiling at them. They have kept just 2 clean sheets away from home so far and haven’t looked menacing going forward. That said, they have proven difficult to beat as they showed again over the weekend with that win at the Bernabeu. The visitors don’t concede a lot and were better on the goals expected radar.
