Boxing Day Fixtures : Match Preview

Watford looks good going into this encounter after ending a 6 match winless run with consecutive victories. The host went through what would be described as a turmoil in their performance stats as they fell time after time. However, with wins over a west ham side that could be regarded as a side in form. They look like a side brimming with confidence.

Chelsea suffered defeat in the hands of the foxes by a lone goal and would be looking to make a statement. That was the first time they had lost at the bridge under Sarri. That loss saw them fall further 11 points behind the league leaders.
The last 3 meetings between these sides have seen an amazing 19 goals scored, this trend should continue in this fixture.

Over 2.5 goals

The current premier league leaders grabbed another essential win as they defeated wolves while Chelsea and City lost. Liverpool has now won 7 consecutive matches as they look to get past Newcastle too. With fixtures against Arsenal and City in coming weeks, Jurgen knows just how important 3 points here could be.

The visitors, on the other hand, don’t have much of a bragging right. They do have an impressive defensive record but haven’t really been testing the opposition, just 14 goals so far. Having a winless game in their first 10 matches, they have now won 4 of their last 8 drawing 2 in the process. They now sit 15th on the table and I don’t think going down again would be on their wishlist.

Home Clean sheet (YES)/ Away under 0.5 goals

This is the post-Mourinho era and their first match in this era under caretaker manager Ole Solskjaer was a huge success. They put 5 past their Cardiff opponents despite not being able to keep a clean sheet. The red devils have now won just 2 of their last 7 in the league. They are just 8 points away from the top 4.

Huddersfield away from home this season has been nothing to be cheerful for. They have won just once on the road losing 5 times whilst conceding 17 goals.
The Terriers are now 4 points away from the drop zone. With the last game ending in a defeat to Southampton, they sure could take another ass whooping at Old Trafford.

Home win

The foxes outstanding winning over Chelsea at the Bridge wasn’t the only shocker on the previous matchday. Manchester City was on the receiving end of a nightmare of a match as they looked to close the gap on Liverpool. That loss to Crystal palace brought their defeats to 2 in 3 games thus leaving them 4 points behind the league leaders. Pep’s side has now conceded in each of their last 5 games despite starting the season so well.

With Leicester in such fine spirit after that win against Chelsea, this won’t be an easy one to call. However, their current form says otherwise as they have won just 3 of their last 11 matches drawing 4 and losing 4 also. Their winless run in 3 matches also came to an end and they now sit in 9th position on the league table.

The citizens would be looking to make a statement here but the foxes could further frustrate them anyway it swings, both sides should find the back of the net.

Both teams to score
