Happy new month to everyone. We’ve endured a not so impressive July but still manage to end the months with some nice wins. Hopefully this month August will be filled with greens. German Borussia Dortmund will lock horns with Italian team Atalanta, a match which promises goals more than any other outcome.

Dortmund are well known for their fluid attacking style of play which has seen them scored a lot of goals. But they’ve always been found wanting when it comes to the defensive aspects of the game. Their style of play seems to always open more holes in their defensive unit for a good counter attacking side to utilize, hence they are always finding it difficult stopping opponents finding the net against them.

Their last game was a friendly game against Spanish side Espanyol, where they were defeated 1-0. They dominated the game but couldn’t find the net. That game was the first in 7 matches they fail to score 2 or more goals. But against the Atalanta weak defence, one should expect the German side to score a couple of goals here.

Atalanta are no strangers when it comes to high scoring games too. 6 of their last 7 matches has ended in over 2.5 goals scored. They returned to Europe after finishing at 4th position in the league last season with an impressive 72 points total. They’ve won all the 3 games they’ve played so far in their pre season, scoring a massive 19 goals. This indicate that there is nothing to suggest that the Italian will be an underdog especially when it comes to scoring goals against the German side.

All in all, with both side love of the attacking side of the game more than the defensive side, over 2.5 goals is a safe bet here.
