Egypt were one out of three teams which maintained the 100% win rate in AFCON 2019 group stages. The hosts of the tournament were competing in one of the easiest groups though, so we should definitely take that into consideration. Salah and co are not going to have an easy task in the playoffs. Egyptians have scored a total of five goals so far and are yet to concede a single one in their own net. They won matches against Zimbabwe 1-0, Congo DR 2-0 and finally 2-0 win against Uganda.They will take on South Africa, team which looked brilliant during the preparation period for this event.
South Africa were members of group of death were they lost to Ivory Coast and Morocco. Luckily they managed to snatch the third place thanks to narrow victory against Namibia. South Africa have lost only one out of ten competitive matches going into AFCON 2019. They’ve shown very little to suggest they’ll go far in this tournament especially against the big guns.
Expect Egypt to take control of this game right from the first whistle and with the quality packed as well as massive support as host, they should bag a comfortable win here.
