England should secure their place in the elimination stage with a potential win early this afternoon against Panama who are searching for their first point.
England snatched a win in the opening match of their group against Tunisia as Harry Kane managed to beat the clock for a 2-1 win. Although that wasn’t too good display, three points are what matters the most. England’s second opponents are the underdogs of the entire competition and they have the chance to secure the spot in the top two if they manage to book another win on the tournament.
This is Panama’s first participation in the biggest competition for the national team. In their opening game, They managed to resist Belgium, however just until the half time. The Belgians were slow and laboured in their build up play, and it took a stunning volley from Dries Mertens shortly after half-time to open the scoring. With Panama pushing a bit further out this opened up the room for Belgium to exploit though, and a brace from Romelu Lukaku sealed a comfortable three points.. They are now facing another tough challenge and will do their best to put a good display.
England are hot favorites in this one and they shouldn’t miss the chance to celebrate a victory and lease the pressure from the upcoming last match of the group stage.
