Stjarnan come into this tie in high spirit having won each of their last four games and 8 games without defeat(4 draws). Its just 9 games into the Icelandic first tier football league season but things have started taking shape. Stjarnan after a difficult start to the season are back on the positive spectrum with their latest win coming from a 2-1 victory at Akureyri. Though they sit at fourth place in the league, a win here could at least temporarily take them as high as the first place.
IBV after back to back defeats in their last two games have found themselves in an unpleasant situation. With just 8 points to their name this season they are placed second from bottom on the log. They’ve won just one of their last four and will arrive at Samsung völlurinn having conceded at least 2 goals in five of their last six matches on the road. So from a defensive point of view, the visitors have been very poor, while they’ve also struggled offensively. A match away against the most in-form team in the division isn’t exactly what the Vestmannaeyjar side would want right now.
