Liverpool continued their spell of excellent form in the final third on Tuesday by clinching a demolishing 5-0 victory over Swansea City at Anfield. They’ll have another opportunity to produce a similar attacking showing past Leicester City today.
It has been another truly remarkable display from Jurgen Klopp’s trio in the final third on Tuesday against the Swans. Philippe Coutinho broke the deadlock early on with a stunner from outside the box. The Brazilian midfielder was particularly inspired as he created most of Liverpool actions up front. His beautifully-taken set piece found his compatriot Roberto Firmino who doubled the lead just at the start of the second half. The team’s top scorer Mohamed Salah did not find the back of the net, but he provided two assists in the match.
The Reds are thus once again enjoying a stellar form in the final third as they have bagged the total of 12 goals in last three league ties (four past Bournemouth, three past Arsenal and five v Swansea City).
Given the obvious holes in Leicester City’s defensive line as of late, we have reasons to expect another goal fest from Klopp’s men this Saturday. Claude Puel did manage to shift Leicester’s fortunes around right upon taking over Craig Shakespeare on the bench, but the Foxes are winless in last three league ties which saw them allow seven goals along the way. The latest of the failures came on Tuesday when they dropped a one-goal cushion against Watford.
I’m backing Liverpool not to lose this in a game that should see 2 or more goals.
