Today’s banker pick will come from Spain where Mallorca will be playing host to Albacete in the first leg of the promotion play-offs Semi finals.
Mallorca have been marked the favourite to win the first leg, but Albacete will surely put up a good fight to ensure they take something from the visit to the Iberostar Stadium.
Both teams finished fourth and fifth in the Segunda table respectively, and the winner of this two-legged tie will take on one of Malaga or Deportivo for a place in the prestigious La Liga, at least for the next whole season.
Going by recent form, the host should edge this one. They’ve been in decent form, especially in front of the home crowd where they’ve not tasted a defeat in any of their last 12 outings. Also, they’ve managed to find the back of the net in all of their last 20 games.
In contrast to their host, Albacete been the best team away from home in this campaign. They’ve won more away games than any other team in the division prior to the post-season, winning ten of their 21 travelling matches. That said, they did lose seven times on the road, so they weren’t exactly infallible.
Albacete won the last two encounters against Mallorca, but Mallorca has only failed to score once in their last six h2h encounter at home, while Albacete did so in six of their last eight overall h2h meetings.
Looking by these stats, it makes perfect sense to think both teams will find the back of the net here.
