England – Premier League
Liverpool – Burnley
Liverpool have had a poor run of results in the past few weeks. Their draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby gave room for Manchester city to top the table with one point. Prior to that draw, Kloop’s men dropped points at Old Trafford too just a week before. The reds have now won just four of their last nine encounters and have been really short of goals.
However, its seem their struggles are limited to trips on the road as they remain a dominant force at Anfield. This they demonstrated as the thrashed Watford 5 nil in their last home game. They are still unbeaten in 35 premier league home games since April 2017. Winning all but 2 of their home games this season.
Claret faithful’s have seen their side do OK in recent times and this could be attributed to fatigue. After their exit from the European competition, their second half of the season display have been impressive. They have recorded 5 wins and 3 draws from 10 premier league outings which sits them above the relegation zone.
PICK
Home win and over 2.5 goals
Chelsea – Wolverhampton
Maurizio Sarri’s side have had a bit of breathing space after their wins against Spurs and Fulham which also heralded their victory at the continental stage. These set of result have eased the pressure on the manager. However, they still sit in a disappointing 6th position on the table at the moment with the Europa league being their only chance of a silverware.
Chelsea’s overall recent form is disturbing though and the midweek fixtures isn’t helping, but after resting key figures they should be fresh for this encounter. The blues have won just 4 of their last 8 encounters losing 3 times in the process. Though at home they are much more of a formidable force.
Wolves were tipped to have a good season, but they never thought they would have such a good running. They currently sit in 7th position as they battle the likes of Everton, Watford and West ham for a Europa league spot. In the FA cup they still find themselves in the running for a successful end.
Their results against top teams have been impressive, you would recall that they defeated Chelsea earlier this season. They have lost just 3 of their eight big six fixtures collecting 9 points, more than any other team in the bottom 14.
PICK
Home win or draw and under 3.5 goals
Arsenal – Manchester United
Arsenal suffered a midweek loss to Rennes 24hours after Manchester United made history in Paris. They were beaten 3-1 with the aid of a red card thanks to a misjudged tackle by Sokratis.
Manchester united weren’t given much of a fighting chance as they had to overturn defeat which they suffered at Old Trafford. A 2nd minute goal by Lukaku gave the visitors a lifeline and the comeback was concluded with a controversial Marcus Rashford Penalty.
That aside, a trip to the Emirates is no easy task especially when it’s a battle for a top four spot. The gunners may have lost against Rennes but are unbeaten in their last 4 and are a point behind united. United have now scored 39 goals in 17 games while this Arsenal side who have seen 100 goals in 29 games.
PICK
Over 2.5 goals
