Lyon will continue their push for top 3 finish when they host Rennes in Matchday 16 in the French top tier football league. The host have been very tough to beat, bagging 3 wins and 3 draws in their last 6 games in all competitions. Les Gones now sit just a point behind 2nd placed Lille and 2 points behind 3rd place Montpellier, so they will come into this clash knowing that a win would take them to 2nd and they stand a good chance if their recent performance is anything to go by.
St Etienne have a fine streak of their own behind them and come into the clash on the back of two comfortable home wins, where they beat Angers and Reims. They have had more troubles impressing on the road and this will be a worry for Jean Louis Gasset ahead of the trip to Groupama Stadium – despite netting goals on the regular too!
Les Verts have snatched a point on their last trip to this ground and will now hope for another upset, despite no great records overall and just two in 18 trips so far! Lyon have a lot to prove if they’re to challenge the Champions League spots in a surprising turn of events this term, which promises a great contest.
