Maribor are seriously determined to reclaim the title after failing to defend the title last time. They’ve started the season in the best possible way as they are still undefeated after nine rounds and four points ahead of the title defenders, Olimpija Ljubljana. Jan Mlakar and the lads are lethal for the oppositions’ goalkeepers as they are scoring more than three goals per match in average, while their defence is the best in the league.
Rudar on the other hand are languishing on the bottom of the league after series of poor results. They did managed to put an end to very poor streak of four straight defeats with a victory at Triglav on Sunday. The results at Triglav still doesn’t their possition in the league and they will now face another extremely difficult game with a trip to Maribor. Marjan Puskin needs to work hard with his lads on improving their defensive work as they’ve conceded 23 times so far in the competition. Their forwards are not producing enough goals and they are the second most inefficient team in the league.
Considering the forms and quality difference of both teams, it is clear that Maribor are the absolute favourites here. They will be making the early strides as they did in most games this season which would see them winning the first half and full time.
