Stoke City come into this game still searching for their first victory of the season. Tonight they will be hosting newly newly promoted Wigan Athletic who are also in serious search of points.
The Potters are looking to fight for promotion following their Premier League relegation but instead they find themselves on 18th place. They suffer a heavy defeat against Leeds followed by 2 draws against strong sides from last year like Preston and Brentford. They will see this game as a must win to climb.
The main problem upon the team looks like their defensive line. The Potters conceded 6 goals in 3 games which can hardly be compensated. Last round they drew against Preston North End in an entertaining 2-2 game. Stoke went behind twice but eventually managed to level the score.
Wigan started the season well following their promotion last year. The Latics have won 4 points so far getting one of each – victory, draw and defeat. The main problem upon the team is their defense as they have conceded 10 goals in their last 4 games in all competitions. Last round they managed an entertaining draw 2-2 with Nottingham which clearly showed a lot of their defensive issues.
