Basel didn’t enjoy their last campaign as they finished as the runners-up. This time, they want to be more competitive for the title, but their performances in the pre-season are not very promising. Valentin Stocker and the lads lost three times in a row, and the last two defeats were heavy as they conceded a total of nine goals. They should be looking to improve urgently if they don’t want to have troubles in the earliest stage of the season.
St. Galen finished on the fifth spot last season and due to their terrible finish and seven straight defeats they slipped down from the Europa League zone. Peter Zeidler’s side has been very efficient, but their defence has been the worst in the competition as they allowed 72 goals. The visitors were putting decent away performances as they managed to get back home with a win from seven outings.
13 of Basel last 15 games has seen over 2.5 goals scored and the same applied to their today’s visitors St. Galen
All except 2 of the last 15 clashes between these two teams has produced at least 3 goals.
All in all, since both sides have been very bad in the back lately, backing goals looks like the best approach and over 2.5 goals is a solid banker pick and the way to go here.
