Celtic didn’t have difficult task in the second qualifying round when the team won over Northern Irish side Linfield 6:0 on aggregate score, taking 2:0 victory away from home in the first leg and sealing the progress to the third round with convincing 4:0 victory last Wednesday evening.
Celtic have scored 2 times or more in all of their last 11 competitive games and it’s 35 matches since they failed to score in a run which stretches back to a defeat against Barcelona in last season’s Champions League group phase and with home advantage, I don’t think the visitors will have answers to Celtic’s attacking firepower.
Rosenborg, on the other side, were huge favorites on paper in the second qualifying round against champions from Ireland Dundalk, but the team had to find their qualification to the next stage only after overtime played in the second leg. First leg in Ireland finished as a 1:1 draw, with Norwegians being a bit more concrete, however with the home team giving them more than a difficult game.
Rosenborg will need to play their best possible game in Glasgow to have some chances to avoid a defeat that will not kill off their chances to qualify for the play-offs. They didn’t have a game in the championship this last weekend, so they could spend a whole week preparing for this match in Glasgow.
CONCLUSION
Considering how the Norwegian champions have been playing recently even against the sides that is far below Celtic in quality, it’s normal to predict a difficult evening for them against the Brendan Rodgers boys. Celtic should win in a game that will produce more than 1 goal.
