The Azaibajan side, Qarabag come into this clash with a huge expectation to record triumphant display which would put them in pole position in progressing to the next round of the qualifier. They’ve shown an impressive performance in their previous games and I think they’ll continue on that front against an unfancied team like champion of Moldova Sheriff Tirapso.
Qarabag have been improving each year as has the elite of Azeri football. They have never lost a home game in the champions league qualifiers and won easily vs Samtredia 6-0 on aggregate last round.
Sheriff have a lot of experience in europe but looked quite bad vs Kukesi last round and were lucky to advance on away goals. The visitors are definitely not doing well in the last couple of weeks. Their new campaign started with only five points from the opening three duels, and they barely eliminated Kukesi in the previous round of UCL qualifiers, 2-2 on aggregate, won because of away goal.
Sheriff lost their last 3 away qualifiers and as I said lost in Albania 2-1 but went through on away goals. Qarabag are very strong at home and have a solid team and playing in front of the home crowd should give them more morale needed to win this pretty convincingly.
