Netherlands Europa League playoffs
Vitesse vs Utrecht
ANALYSIS AND MATCH PREVIEW
Later this evening in Netherlands, Vitesse will host Utrecht in the first match of the finals for the Europa League. They managed to eliminate Den Haag in the semi final with 2:5 and 2:1 while Utrecht bettered Herenveen with 3:4 and 2:1 scoreline.
Here, we have two teams that have shown great attacking ability in the final stages of the championship. Vitesse have been very effective on home ground in the last months and took some notable wins. Sparta 7:0, Twente 5:0, Ajax 3:2, Feyenoord 3:1. Vitesse was, after the top 4 teams, the best attacking team in the league this season.
Vitesse will however have to be on top of their game as Utrecht is not their favorite opponent. They haven’t won over Utrecht in the last 9 matches with the most recent win coming in 2013. So they will have to show great determination to win this first game alone as Utrecht is traditionally good in the play-offs.
Utrech has been outstanding at home this season but they fell a bit flat in the finals months. With some questionable results they have fallen down the table but they seem a bit better in the past few matches. Again in the play –off they are a force to be reckoned with but their defensive issues are persistant as was clearly shown against Herenveen. They were 3:0 down in fist half and it took a massive team effort and especially goals from Labyad to keep them in play for the return. In the return match Utrech dominated heavily and went threw with ease.
Utrech is scoring in away matches but are conceiding even more. All of their last 8 away matches have gone over 2.5 goals, even 7 over 3.5 goals. Considering all these stats, backing both teams to score looks like a decent Banker pick here.
