ANALYSIS AND MATCH PREVIEW

Roma will be feeling quite satisfied after their result from their midweek fixture in the Champions League. They earned a well deserved victory over Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk to secure their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals. It’s a significant achievement for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side, who are there for the first time in a decade, but now it looks like their European adventure will come to an end as they’re set to take on Barcelona next month. Nonetheless, it’s an impressive achievement for Di Francesco, who is featuring in his first ever Champions League campaign, and they certainly will be still celebrating their excellent achievement as they prepare to take on minnows Crotone.

Roma have cruised to victory in all of their three prior meetings and to top it off, Crotone haven’t even managed to score against the Lupi. In addition, Roma have lost just once on the road this season, so things aren’t looking so good for the hosts. Whilst their win against Sampdoria was indeed impressive, they’re a side who are quite poor on the road, with just three wins and really are highly dependent on their home form.

The same doesn’t apply to Roma, who are unbeaten in their last 19 of 20 away games and Crotone are expected to struggle here, especially considering they haven’t even managed to score against the Lupi, let alone pick up a single point.

They’ve also kept a clean sheet  in all their prior meetings, whilst scoring seven goals. Overall, they have shown great defensive work in the Champions League and Crotone, despite beating Sampdoria, have struggled against any of the sides in the top six. In fact, at home, they haven’t scored against Napoli, AC Milan, or Inter. Therefore the visitors shouldn’t encounter much problem dispersing the host here.
