12/08/2017.  17:30

England Premier League

Brighton vs Manchester city

Pick: Manchester city win and over 1.5 goals

Odd: 1.53

Brighton got promoted to the Epl thanks to their second place finish in the Championship last season. Their pre-season games were pretty much successful despite the fact they mostly faced weaker teams. The only strong opponent they went up against was Atletico Madrid in their last test. In that game they were cancelling Atletico`s lead twice before eventually going down in 89th minute. They put up a good fight, but it was a clear indicator that they will hardly be able to cope with the strongest teams. They pulled off some respectable transfers this window, most notably Matthew Ryan, Davy Propper and Jose Izgueirdo. Baldock and Kayar are out, while Knockaert is questionable.

Manchester city

Manchester City are coming after a good pre-season in which they proved they will be title contenders. They started their preparations with a defeat against city rivals 2:0, but then beat Real Madrid, Tottenham and West Ham while putting up a goal difference of 10:1. They showed good play both in defence and offense, and look ready to go. Guardiola played 3-5-2 in all of games and City should remain in that formation. City had a successful transfer window, with a focus on wing-back department. They brought in Ederson, Walker, Danilo, Mendy, Luiz and Bernardo Silva, while Zabaleta, Clichy, Jesus Navas, Caballero, Sagna Nolito, Kolarov and Hart (loan) have all left the club. Mendy is out injured, while Gundogan is not back to full fitness and therefore wont feature.

Brighton will have a task of avoiding relegation this season, and it shouldn`t be impossible for them. They brought in some quality players and will be hopeful of their chances. Manchester City will have different hopes – that of Premier League title. Guardiola did a complete makeover in his locker room and his team looked powerful in the preseason. There has never been a doubt about City`s attacking potential, but this time Guardiola turned his focus in strenghtening his back line and it seems to be working. They conceded only three goals in four games against very stong teams, while keeping two clean sheets. Brighton will surely be looking for points at home this season and they should be tough hosts, however City seems too strong at the moment. Visitors are much more quality team and they should get the three points here. Their win should be a comfortable one, with at least two goals.
